Eddie Byrne (born January 31, 1911 – died August 21, 1981) was a famous Irish actor. He appeared in many plays, movies, and TV shows during his career. He was known for playing different kinds of characters.

Eddie Byrne's Acting Career

Eddie Byrne started his acting journey on stage. He performed many times with the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. He also worked with the Royal National Theatre in London, England. These are both very well-known theaters.

Outside of Ireland, many people remember him from the original Star Wars movie in 1977. He played a small but important role as General Willard. This character was named after George Lucas's friend, Willard Huyck.

If you like horror movies, you might also know him from some classic films. He played Inspector Mulrooney in The Mummy (1959). He was also the kind Dr. Reginald Landers in Island of Terror (1966). He even appeared as a rural inn owner in The Break.

Eddie Byrne also played Inspector O'Neill in the movie Jack the Ripper (1959). He appeared in a TV series called 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' in 1957. In that show, he played the lord of a manor. He was also in several episodes of "The Saint" with Roger Moore.
