Eden, Kansas facts for kids
Eden is a small, quiet place in Atchison County, Kansas, in the United States. It's not a city or a town with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community. Think of it as a neighborhood or a small collection of homes that are part of the larger county.
Eden is located about five miles west and five miles north of the city of Atchison. You can find it where three roads meet: Labette Road, 322nd Road, and 326th Road.
History
Even though Eden is a small community today, it once had an important service for its residents. A post office was opened there in 1858. This was a big deal because it meant people living in and around Eden could send and receive mail easily, connecting them to the rest of the world.
The post office served the community for many years, helping people communicate and businesses operate. However, as times changed and transportation improved, the need for a local post office in Eden decreased. It eventually closed down in 1900.
