Early Life and Volleyball Beginnings
Edinah Rotich was born in 1981 in a place called Eldoret, Kenya. She started her journey in volleyball early on. In 2006, she played beach volleyball with Gladys Munge.
Playing for Kenya
In 2007, Edinah was part of the Kenyan team. They competed in the FIVB Women's World Cup. Most players were from big club teams. But Edinah was special, coming from the Friends Volleyball Club.
World Cup and Championship Matches
The Kenyan team played really well in 2007. They beat Algeria to win their match. This was a big victory for Kenya.
Edinah was chosen again in 2010. She joined the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship squad. She was still the only player from her club. Later, Edinah became the captain of the national team in 2011. She even went on to manage the team!
Olympic Dreams
In February 2012, Edinah and her team went to Algeria. They were trying to get a spot in the 2012 London Olympics. Kenya was the African champion at the time. However, Algeria won the match. So, Algeria went to the Olympics instead.
In 2014, Edinah won another big competition. She and Juma Yelena won the Castle Light International Beach Volleyball Championship. This happened in Entebbe.
Beyond the Court: A Special Role
From 2014 to 2015, Edinah had a very important job. She was the Aide de Camp to Kenya's First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta. An Aide de Camp is like a special assistant. They help important people with their daily duties. Even with this role, Edinah kept playing volleyball. She won beach volleyball cups with her partner, Eunice Maiyo.
Helping Others
Edinah Rotich also cares about helping her community. She works as an advocate for the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya. This agency helps make sure sports are fair. She is also on the advisory board of the Love Kenya Foundation. This foundation helps people in Kenya.
