Edna Ernestine Kramer Lassar (born May 11, 1902 – died July 9, 1984) was an American mathematician. She also wrote many books about mathematics.
Edna Kramer was born in Manhattan, New York. Her parents were immigrants. She loved math and studied it at Hunter College. In 1922, she earned her first degree, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), with top honors (summa cum laude).
While teaching at high schools, she continued her studies. She earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) in 1925. Then, in 1930, she got her Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) in mathematics. She also studied physics. She earned both of these advanced degrees from Columbia University. Her teacher there was Edward Kasner.
On July 2, 1935, Edna married Benedict Taxier Lassar, who was a French teacher. Edna Kramer Lassar passed away in Manhattan at age 82. She died from Parkinson's disease.
