Edward Baeshe started his career working for Thomas Cromwell. Cromwell was a powerful advisor to King Henry VIII. In 1550, Edward took on a very important job. He became the General Surveyor of Victuals for the navy. This meant he was in charge of making sure all the ships in the English navy had enough food and supplies. Imagine trying to feed hundreds of sailors on many ships! It was a huge and vital task.

Besides his work with the navy, Edward Baeshe was also a politician. He served in the English Parliament. This is where laws are made for the country.
Serving in Parliament
Edward was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) several times. He represented the town of Rochester in Parliament. He was an MP for Rochester in November 1554, 1559, and 1563. Later, in 1571, he was an MP for Preston. Being an MP meant he helped make decisions for the country.
Local Leadership as Sheriff
Edward Baeshe also held a local leadership role. He was the Sheriff of Hertfordshire in 1571 and again in 1584. A sheriff was like a chief law enforcement officer for a county. They helped keep the peace and made sure laws were followed.

Edward Baeshe was married two times. His first wife was named Thomasin Baker. They did not have any children together. Later, he married Jane. Jane was the daughter of Sir Ralph Sadler from Hackney. Edward and Jane had two sons.
