Lindsay Knight, known by her stage name Eekwol, is a Canadian rapper and activist. She comes from the Muskoday First Nation in Saskatchewan.
Eekwol has studied a lot about Indigenous culture and music. She earned degrees from the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan. She even taught at the University of Saskatchewan. She was also the university's first Indigenous storyteller-in-residence. This means she shared stories and traditions with students and the community.

Eekwol's birth name is Lindsay Knight. She has two children. She is not only a talented musician but also a dedicated scholar.
Her uncle is the musician Chester Knight. Music clearly runs in her family!
Eekwol's Music Journey
Eekwol began learning about hip-hop when she was 16 years old. She released her first album in 1998. In 2005, she won an award for Best Hip Hop/Rap Album. This was for her album Apprentice to the Mystery. She won it at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. She shares this award with her brother and producer, Mils. They even own their own music label together, called Mils Production.
Her album Apprentice to the Mystery also received other nominations. It was nominated at the Indian Summer Music Awards in 2005. It was also nominated at the Aboriginal Peoples’ Choice Music Awards in 2006. Eekwol's music video for her song "Too Sick" was shown on TV. You could see it on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, MTV Canada, and Muchmusic.
Eekwol also helps young people. She works as a youth mentor. She has led songwriting workshops for Cree youth. These workshops help young people learn about arts and music. She has also taught for LIVE Arts Saskatchewan.
Eekwol's Activism and Community Work
Eekwol is known for her strong messages in her songs. She often sings about Indigenous culture and important issues. She is also very active in her community.
She is part of an Indigenous Advisory Council. This group helps guide decisions related to Indigenous people. In 2015, she became a Program Consultant. She works for the Saskatchewan Arts Board. In this role, she helps with Aboriginal arts and community projects.
Eekwol once attended an event in Saskatoon. It was about Truth and Reconciliation. This organization helps people understand the history of residential schools in Canada. At the event, she heard powerful stories from survivors. These stories deeply affected her. She then wrote a song called "Ghosts" about her feelings.
