Eileen Mary Blake was born in 1878 in Moseley, a part of Birmingham. Her father was a leather merchant. Eileen was one of three children. She went to the King Edward VI High School for Girls in Birmingham. After high school, she studied art at the Birmingham School of Art. She was very good at art and won several prizes there!

What Kind of Art Did She Make?

Eileen Blake painted many different things. She loved to paint:

  • Landscapes (pictures of nature and scenery)
  • Seascapes (pictures of the sea)
  • Flowers
  • Portraits of children

She mostly used watercolors for her paintings. She also designed special Christmas cards!

Where Did She Show Her Art?

Eileen Blake was a respected artist. She was chosen to be a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. This is a very important group for artists in Birmingham. She was also part of other art groups in the West Midlands area.
