Einayim theatre
This is a cover from Einayim magazine, showing an issue about theatre.

Einayim (which means "eyes" in Hebrew, written as עיניים) is a cool magazine especially for kids! It's published in Hebrew and edited by Tamir Rauner. The magazine is packed with fun stuff like riddles, stories, comics, and even chances for you to share your own creations.

What's Inside Einayim Magazine?

Einayim magazine has many exciting sections that appear in almost every issue. These parts make the magazine fun and interactive for its readers.

Can You Solve These Riddles?

Every issue of Einayim includes a section called "I Have a Riddle." You'll find several riddles, often related to the magazine's main topic or even about page numbers! Usually, there are four riddles about the issue's theme. If you solve them, you might even win a prize! The answers and the names of the winners are published in the next magazine. This fun section has been around since the very first issue, which came out in November 1994 and was all about paper.

The World Through My Eyes

This section is a place for kids to ask questions and share their thoughts. Experts like Iris Baum-Ronen, Nira, Neil Menussi, and Naftali Israeli answer personal questions sent in by children. You can ask about anything! This column also features poems written by kids that are related to the magazine's theme. For example, if the theme was "disorder," a poem about that topic might be included. This section first appeared in May 1995, in the second issue, which focused on the theme of color.

Finish the Comic Strip!

Do you love comics? Then you'll enjoy "The Unfinished Comic Strip"! This column started in March 1998, in issue 11, which was all about comics. The artist Michel Kichka creates a comic strip, but he leaves the ending blank! In each new issue, you can see how other kids finished the comic from the previous magazine. This column is always found at the very end of the magazine.

Complete the Story!

If you like writing, "The Unfinished Story" is for you! This section began in 2003. Shay Golden and Amit Weisberger write the beginning of a story, and then they invite kids like you to finish it. Five of the best endings submitted by readers are published in the next issue of the magazine. It's a great way to show off your creative writing skills!

Draw Me a Picture

Are you an artist? "Draw Me a Picture" is a column where you can show off your drawing talents! It first appeared in June 2005, in an issue about spring. An artist named Talja Keinan describes a picture, and readers are asked to draw it and send it in. For example, when the theme was "law," the artist described a courtroom scene. A selection of the drawings are then published in the next issue, along with comments from the artist.

My Photograph

If you enjoy taking pictures, check out "My Photograph"! This column started in August 2005, in issue 60, which had "red" as its theme. Kids are invited to take photos related to the magazine's current theme. Tzur Kotzer, a photography expert, shares his thoughts on the submitted pictures. He also gives tips on what to photograph for the next issue.

Tom and Moby (Brainpop)

This fun column features characters named Tom and Moby from Brainpop. It first appeared in issue 69, which was about shadows, in May 2006. In each issue, Tom and Moby discover something new that connects to the magazine's theme. While you won't find the full comic in the printed magazine, there's a link to where you can find it on the Einayim website!

New Friends

Want to connect with other kids who read Einayim? The "New Friends" column is for you! It started in August 2006, in issue 72, which was about chocolate. If you're interested in finding new pen pals, you can write a letter to Einayim. Your letter will then be published in the magazine and on its website, helping you find new friends!

With Closed Eyes

"With Closed Eyes" is another riddle-like section that first appeared in June 2010, in issue 118, which was about round things. This column gives you 10 questions to answer, similar to "I Have a Riddle." However, the answers to these questions are hidden within different articles throughout the magazine. There's even a hint above each question that tells you which article might hold the answer!

Pand the Red

One of the most popular characters in Einayim is Pand the Red! This comic strip has been in the magazine since the very first issue. Pand was created by a boy named Yoav Yarden in November 1994, originally on a paper napkin! In every issue, Pand learns something new with the help of the Yarden family: Yoav (the son), Noga (the mother), and David (the father). He also learns from his sister Chalila and his friends Ruti, Oded, and Tamar. These comics are created by Tamir Rauner and Noam Nadav.
