El Chaparral is a small community located in Starr County, Texas, in the United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area that the government counts for population but isn't officially a city or town.
In 2010, El Chaparral was a new CDP with about 464 people. It was created from a part of an older CDP called Santa Cruz. Another community, Santa Rosa, was also formed from the same old Santa Cruz area.
