El Rosario (pronounced el ro-SAH-ree-oh) is a small town in Nicaragua. It is a type of local government area called a municipality. You can find it in the Carazo Department, which is one of Nicaragua's regions.
This town is not very big. In 2005, about 5,317 people lived there. It covers an area of about 14 square kilometers. Because it's quite small, many people outside of the Carazo Department might not know about it.
It's important not to confuse this town with the famous El Rosario Waterfall. That waterfall is a major landmark in Nicaragua. However, it is located much farther north in the Nueva Segovia Department. So, while they share a name, they are two very different places!
