Elaine Cassidy (born on December 31, 1979) is a talented actress from Ireland. She has starred in many movies and TV shows. Some of her well-known films include The Others (2001) and The Wonder (2022). On television, she is famous for her roles in shows like The Paradise and No Offence.

Early Life and First Roles

Elaine Cassidy was born in Raheny, a town in County Dublin, Ireland. When she was three years old, her family moved to Kilcoole. Elaine started acting at a very young age. Her first role was playing the main character in a school play of Pinocchio when she was only five! She continued taking drama classes all through her school years.

Her Acting Career Highlights

Elaine Cassidy's acting career began in 1994. In 1996, she was recognized as a "Most Promising Actress" at the Geneva Film Festival for her role in the movie The Sun, the Moon and the Stars.

In 1999, she played the main character in Felicia's Journey. For this role, she was nominated for "Best Actress" at the 20th Genie Awards. In 2001, she was named a "European Shooting Star," which is an award for promising new actors in Europe.

Elaine has won two Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA). She won "Best Actress in a Lead Role in Film" in 2003 for her part as Runt in Disco Pigs. In 2010, she won "Best Actress in a Lead Role in Television" for playing Abby Mills in the American TV series Harper's Island.

She has also been nominated for many other awards for her roles in shows like Fingersmith and Little White Lie.

On Stage and Screen

Elaine has also performed in plays. She appeared in The Lieutenant of Inishmore (2002) and The Crucible (2006) with the famous Royal Shakespeare Company.

In 2002, she was featured in the music video for the popular band Coldplay's song "The Scientist".

From 2015 to 2018, she played a main character, DC Dinah Kowalska, in the Channel 4 drama series No Offence. In 2017, she also starred as Sarah Manning in Acceptable Risk.

In 2022, Elaine starred in the Irish film The Wonder. What's special about this movie is that her own daughter, Kíla, played "the wonder" alongside her! Elaine was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress" at the Irish Film and Television Awards in 2023 for this role.

Elaine Cassidy is married to English actor Stephen Lord. They met while working on the film The Truth. They got married on December 31, 2007. Elaine and Stephen live in Greenwich, London, with their two children. Their daughter, Kíla, was born in 2009, and their son, Lynott, was born in 2013.
