Eleanor of Portugal, Queen of Denmark (1211–1231)

Eleanor was born in 1211, the daughter of King Afonso II of Portugal. She became the wife of Valdemar the Young, who was the co-King of Denmark. Her marriage helped to strengthen ties between Portugal and Denmark. Sadly, she passed away at a young age in 1231.

Eleanor of Portugal, Queen of Aragon (1328–1348)

Born in 1328, this Eleanor was the daughter of King Afonso IV of Portugal. She married King Peter IV of Aragon, becoming the Queen of Aragon. Her marriage was important for political alliances between the kingdoms of Portugal and Aragon during her time. She died in 1348.

Eleanor of Portugal, Holy Roman Empress (1434–1467)

This Eleanor, born in 1434, was a daughter of King Edward I of Portugal. She achieved a very high rank by marrying Frederick III, who was the Holy Roman Emperor. As Empress, she held a powerful position in Europe. She was known for her intelligence and influence. She passed away in 1467.

Eleanor of Viseu (1458–1525)

Also known as Eleanor of Lancaster, she was born in 1458. Her parents were Infante Ferdinand, Duke of Viseu, and Infanta Beatrice. She became the Queen of Portugal when she married her cousin, King John II of Portugal. Queen Eleanor was a very influential figure. She was known for her charity work and for founding important institutions, like hospitals and religious houses. She died in 1525.

Eleanor of Austria (1498–1558)

Born in 1498, Eleanor of Austria was not Portuguese by birth. She was a Habsburg princess, daughter of Philip I of Castile and Joanna of Castile. She became the Queen consort of Portugal from 1518 to 1521 through her marriage to King Manuel I of Portugal. After his death, she later became Queen of France. She passed away in 1558.
