Building History
How the Project Started
Work on Eleven Times Square began in 2007. At first, the developers started building it without any companies agreeing to rent space. This is called building "on spec."
First Tenants and Ownership
In 2010, a big law firm called Proskauer Rose was the first to sign a lease. They decided to rent about one-third of the building. When the building officially opened in 2011, only 40% of its space was rented out.
In 2015, a company called Norges Bank Investment Management bought a 45% share of the building. However, SJP Properties and Prudential Real Estate Investors still own and manage most of it.
Who Works There?
Companies in the Tower
Many different companies have offices in Eleven Times Square. Some of the well-known tenants include Microsoft Corp., the law firm Proskauer Rose, and E*TRADE. Other companies like Moore Capital Management, British Telecom, Kepos Capital, and eMarketer also have offices here.
Retail and Entertainment Space
The building also has a large area for shops and entertainment. This space is about 55,000 square feet (5,100 square meters). A company called Parques Reunidos had planned to open a Lionsgate Entertainment Palace here in 2019, but they later changed their plans.
Design and Features
A Green Building
Eleven Times Square is known for being environmentally friendly. It has a special certification called Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. This means it was built and operates in a way that helps protect the environment. For example, it has very good air quality inside.
Modern Amenities
The building has many cool features for the people who work there. It has a high-tech elevator system that helps people get to their floors quickly. There's also a special system for visitors to check in easily. The offices have large floor-to-ceiling windows, which let in lots of natural light. Some offices even have private outdoor terraces!
Art and Transportation
In the main lobby of 11 Times Square, you can see a unique moving art piece. It was created by an artist named Tim Prentice.
The building is also very easy to get to. The Port Authority Bus Terminal is right across the street. Plus, you can enter the New York City Subway directly from inside the building! This entrance leads to the Times Square–42nd Street/Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station.
