Elisabeth of Sicily (born 1310, died 1349) was a princess from the island of Sicily. Her father was Frederick III of Sicily, who was the King of Sicily. Her mother was Eleanor of Anjou.

Elisabeth had several brothers and sisters. These included Peter II of Sicily and Manfred of Athens. After Elisabeth passed away, her title was later given to Georgia Lanza.

Elisabeth's Marriage and Children

On June 27, 1328, Elisabeth married Stephen II, Duke of Bavaria. Stephen was a powerful ruler, known as a Duke, from a region in Germany called Bavaria. His father was Louis IV, Holy Roman Emperor, a very important leader in Europe. Stephen's mother was Beatrix of Silesia-Glogau.

Elisabeth and Stephen had four children together. They had three sons and one daughter:

  • Stephen III of Bavaria-Ingolstadt (1337–September 26, 1413, Niederschönfeld). He later became a Duke himself.
  • Frederick of Bavaria-Landshut (1339–December 4, 1393, Budweis). He also became a Duke.
  • John II of Bavaria-Munich (1341–1397). He married Katharina of Görz.
  • Agnes (born 1338). She married King James I of Cyprus around 1356, which made her a Queen.

Elisabeth died in 1349. After her death, her husband Stephen married another woman named Margarete of Nuremberg. Stephen and Margarete did not have any children together.

Elisabeth's Family Tree

Elisabeth's children continued her royal line. Two of her sons, Stephen III and Frederick, became Dukes of Bavaria. This meant they ruled important parts of Bavaria.

Her daughter, Agnes, became the Queen of Cyprus. She achieved this by marrying James I of Cyprus, who was the King of Cyprus.

Elisabeth also had a famous granddaughter named Isabeau of Bavaria. Isabeau was named after Elisabeth. Isabeau became the Queen of France when she married Charles VI of France.

Isabeau's children, Elisabeth's great-grandchildren, included:
