Elizabeth Raum was born in Berlin, New Hampshire, in 1945. She later became a Canadian citizen in 1985. She loved music from a young age.

Her Musical Education

Elizabeth studied how to play the oboe at the Eastman School of Music. She finished her studies there in 1966. Later, in 1985, she earned a master's degree in composing music from the University of Regina. This means she learned how to create her own musical pieces.

Her Career as a Musician

Elizabeth played the main oboe for two important orchestras. First, she played for the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for seven years. After that, she played for the Regina Symphony Orchestra in Regina, Saskatchewan. Playing principal oboe means she was the lead oboe player in the orchestra.

Awards and Recognition

In 2004, Elizabeth Raum received a special honorary doctorate degree from Mount St. Vincent University. This was to recognize her great achievements. In November 2010, she was given the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. This is a very high honor for people who have done excellent work in Saskatchewan, Canada.
