Elton Thomas Jantjies (born 1 August 1990) is a famous South African professional rugby union player. He plays in the important position of fly-half. A fly-half is like the quarterback in American football, guiding the team's attacks.
Elton Jantjies started his professional rugby journey with the Lions team in 2011. He also made his first appearance for the national team, the Springboks, in the very first Rugby Championship tournament. He has won several big awards, including the SARU Young Player of the Year award in 2010. He also won the SA U20 Player of the Year award in the same year.
In June 2014, Elton Jantjies signed a contract to play for a Japanese team called NTT Communications Shining Arcs. This team plays in Japan's top rugby league.

Elton Jantjies' Rugby Journey
Playing for the Golden Lions: 2011–2014
Elton Jantjies became known for performing well under pressure. In the 2011 Currie Cup final, he successfully kicked every goal. This helped his team, the Golden Lions, beat the Sharks 42–16. Because of his amazing performance, he was named the Man of the Match for that game.
Super Rugby Adventures: 2011–2020
Elton Jantjies first played in the Super Rugby competition in 2011 for the Lions. In 2013, he joined the Stormers team for a short time. This happened because the Lions team was not playing in the Super Rugby competition that year. His time with the Stormers was not as successful as his earlier season with the Lions. With the Lions, he had a very high success rate of 86% for goal-kicking. He later returned to the Lions when they rejoined the Super Rugby competition.
Elton Jantjies helped the Lions reach the finals in both 2016 and 2017. In the 2016 final, the Lions lost to the Hurricanes in New Zealand. In the 2017 final, they lost to the Crusaders at their home stadium in Johannesburg. He played a very important role in getting his team to these big games. In 2017, he was the top points scorer in the entire competition, scoring 203 points that season.
Playing for South Africa (Springboks)
Elton Jantjies made his first official international rugby test appearance for the South Africa national rugby union team (the Springboks) on 29 September 2012. This was during the first-ever Rugby Championship against Australia. Before that, he played a non-test game for the Springboks against the Barbarians in 2010.
Elton Jantjies was chosen to be part of South Africa's team for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. South Africa went on to win the entire tournament, beating England in the final match. He scored two tries for the Springboks in international matches. One was against France in 2017, and another was against Argentina in 2017.
Elton Jantjies' Family Life
Elton Jantjies has a younger brother named Tony Jantjies, who is also a fly-half in rugby. Sadly, Elton's father, Thomas Jantjies, passed away in hospital after being stung by a bee. This happened just weeks before Elton joined the Stormers team. Elton had often said in interviews that his father was his mentor and helped him a lot with his kicking skills.
