Her Amazing Books
Elys Dolan's first book, Weasles, came out in 2013. People loved it because it was so funny and appealed to kids of many different ages. It was even considered for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize that year!
Her book Doughnut of Doom (2016) had a bit of a problem in 2018. The story involved a giant doughnut villain who had an allergic reaction. Some people were worried about how this part of the story might affect children who have allergies. Because of these concerns, the publisher, Nosy Crow, decided to take all the copies of the book off the shelves and destroy them. Elys Dolan then changed the story and some of the pictures to remove anything about allergies. A new, revised version of the book was published in 2019.
Mr Bunny's Chocolate Factory won a special award called Best Laugh Out Loud Picture Book at the 2018 LOLLIES awards. This book has been described as having themes about fairness and working together, like when people in a factory might form a group to make sure they are treated well.
In 2019, Elys Dolan illustrated a book called How the Borks Became, which was written by Jonathan Emmett. This book won the Best Early Years Book in the STEAM Children's Book Prize. It helped teach young children about how living things change over a very long time, which is called evolution.
Elys Dolan has created many other fun books too! Some of these include Super Snail, The Haunted Farm, Steven Seagull, Nuts in Space, and Knighthood for Beginners.
