Gertrúd Emilia Eberle (also known as Trudi Kollar) is a famous retired Romanian gymnast. She was born on March 4, 1964. Emilia is known for her amazing skills and for winning many medals in big competitions.

Gymnastics Career Highlights

Emilia Eberle started gymnastics when she was 7 years old, just like her mother. She trained with several coaches, including Judita Varkony, Pavel Rosenfeld, and later Béla Károlyi and Márta Károlyi. In 1976, she joined the national team.

Becoming a Star Gymnast

Emilia became one of Romania's top gymnasts after Nadia Comăneci. Even though they often competed together, Emilia still made a name for herself. She won 13 individual medals at European, World, and Olympic events.

Winning World Championships

One of her biggest achievements was winning the gold medal in the floor exercise at the 1979 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She beat other famous gymnasts like Nelli Kim and Maxi Gnauck.

Emilia was also part of the Romanian team that won the gold medal at the 1979 World Championships. This was a special victory because Romanian teams rarely beat the Soviet team in major competitions.

Olympic Success

At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Emilia won a silver medal on the uneven bars. She was very close to winning gold, but Maxi Gnauck just edged her out. She also won a silver medal with her team at the same Olympics.

Uneven Bars Specialist

Emilia was a strong all-around gymnast, meaning she was good at all events. She won silver medals in the all-around competition at the 1979 World Cup and European Championships. She was especially known for her routines on the uneven bars. Her routines were always exciting and different, often featuring quick and unusual moves between the bars.

Life After Gymnastics

Emilia Eberle retired from gymnastics in 1983. Like many other Romanian gymnasts and coaches, she later moved away from Romania. In 1989, she moved to Hungary, and then to the United States in 1991.

Family Life and Coaching

Emilia is married and has a son named Roland, who was born in 1999. She now coaches gymnastics in California. She works with Géza Poszár, who is also a gymnastics coach and choreographer from Romania. Emilia now goes by the name Trudi Kollar, using her first name and her married last name.
