Emilio Rodríguez Barros (born November 28, 1923, died February 21, 1984) was a famous Spanish professional road bicycle racer. He was born and passed away in Ponteareas, Spain. Emilio was known for his amazing climbing skills. He won the King of the Mountains award three times at the Vuelta a España. This is one of the biggest cycling races in the world.

Emilio also won the entire 1950 Vuelta a España race. His family was very talented at cycling too! His older brother, Delio Rodríguez, won the 1945 Vuelta a España. Delio also won 39 individual stages in the Vuelta a España. Emilio's other brother, Manolo, finished second in the same race that Emilio won in 1950. It was a big moment for the Rodríguez family!

  • He won the overall title at the Tour of Galicia.

  • He won the overall title at the Vuelta a Asturias.

  • He won Stage 1 of the Vuelta a Burgos.
  • He finished 4th overall in the 1947 Vuelta a España.

1948 Cycling Season

  • He won the overall title at the Volta a Catalunya for the second time.
  • He won the overall title at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana.

1950 Cycling Season

  • This was a huge year for Emilio! He won the Jersey gold.svg Overall title at the 1950 Vuelta a España.

    • He also won five individual stages: Stages 3, 4b, 6, 7, and 22.

Later Career Highlights

  • 1954: He won the MaillotEspaña.PNG Spanish National Road Race Championships. This made him the national champion!
  • 1955: He won the overall title at the Tour of Galicia for the third time.
