Emma Maria Walrond was a talented artist who painted beautiful landscapes. She was born in England in 1859, but she became well-known for her paintings of New Zealand's North Island. She passed away in 1943.

Her Life and Art

Emma Maria Walrond was born Emma Maria Evans in England. Her father was Thomas Fisher Evans. In 1881, she married Robert Bruce Walrond in London. He was from New Zealand. After they got married, they moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where they had a son named Cecil.

Emma Maria Walrond started showing her artwork in the late 1880s. At first, she painted pictures of flowers, which are called still lifes. But she soon became famous for her amazing landscape paintings of the New Zealand countryside. She used both oil paints and watercolours in her work. She was very good at selling her paintings, and many people wanted to buy them.

Today, some of her artworks are kept in the National Library of New Zealand. Emma Maria Walrond died in Auckland in 1943 and was buried at Waikumete Cemetery.
