Park History: How it Started
Enchanted Island Amusement Park has a long and interesting history. It first opened its doors way back in 1946. Back then, it was known by a different name: Kiddieland.
A Big Change and a Special Carousel
In 1986, the City of Phoenix decided to close the park for a big makeover. Many of the old rides were sold. However, a very special ride, the Allan Herschell Carousel, was missed by many. A group of people in the community worked hard to raise money and bring the carousel back. Their efforts paid off! The carousel was fixed up and returned to the park in 1991. That's when Kiddieland reopened with its new name, Enchanted Island Amusement Park.
