English, Kentucky facts for kids
English is a small place in Carroll County, Kentucky, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the wider county area.
How English Started
The community of English began in the 1850s. It was named after a man called James Whorton English. He was the first owner of the land where the community grew.
A post office was opened in English in 1876. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years, until 1957. After that, people in English likely used post offices in nearby towns.
