The Enid Blyton Society is a special club for people who love the books written by Enid Blyton. She was a very famous author who wrote many popular children's stories. This society was started in 1995 by three collectors: Norman Wright, Tony Summerfield, and Michael Rouse.

When it first began, the club was called the Enid Blyton Literary Society. This helped people know it was different from other groups. Later, when another similar club closed, it changed its name to simply the Enid Blyton Society.

What Does the Society Do?

The Enid Blyton Society helps fans connect and learn more about Enid Blyton's world. They do this through a special magazine and fun events.

The Enid Blyton Society Journal

The society publishes a magazine called the Enid Blyton Society Journal. Tony Summerfield was the first editor. When they asked for stories and information for the first issue, many people sent things in!

The first journal came out in 1996 and had 32 pages. Over time, the magazine became very popular. Now, it has colorful covers and usually has about ninety pages. It's full of interesting articles for fans.

The Enid Blyton Day

Another exciting part of the society is the 'Enid Blyton Day'. This is an event where fans can meet up. It's still very popular today, with over a hundred people attending each time!

Many interesting people have spoken at these events. Some famous speakers include Tim Rice and his daughter Eva, Gyles Brandreth, Marcus Harris, Gary Russell, Mary Cadogan, Sheila Ray, David Rudd, and Anne Digby.

Who Supports the Society?

In 2000, some very important people became official supporters, or "patrons," of the society. These included Gillian Baverstock and Imogen Smallwood, who are Enid Blyton's daughters. Barbara Stoney, who wrote a book about Enid Blyton's life, also became a patron. Their support helps the society continue its work.
