Enrique Banchs facts for kids
Enrique Banchs (born in 1888, died in 1968) was an important Argentine poet. He wrote all his poems and books in just four years, at the start of the 1900s.
Banchs loved a classic style of writing. He found ideas from the Spanish Golden Age, a time when Spanish art and literature were very strong. His last book was made of sonnets. A sonnet is a special type of poem with 14 lines. This style was not very popular anymore when he wrote them.
After 1911, Banchs did not publish any more books for the next 50 years of his life. However, he stayed involved in the world of Argentine literature. He was also a member of the Argentine Academy of Letters, which is a group that helps protect and promote the Spanish language in Argentina. He was also a friend of another writer, Carlos Alberto Leumann.
