Enrique Moradiellos was born in 1961 in Oviedo, a city in Spain. He studied history at the University of Oviedo. After finishing his studies there, he received a special scholarship. This scholarship allowed him to study further at Queen Mary College in London, England.
His Studies and Teaching Career
In 1989, Enrique Moradiellos earned his PhD in history from the University of Oviedo. A PhD is a very high degree you can get after university. For his PhD, he wrote a long paper called a dissertation. His dissertation was about how the British government acted during the Spanish military uprising in 1936.
Later, in 1999, he became a senior lecturer at the University of Extremadura. A senior lecturer is like a main teacher at a university. By 2006, he became a full professor of Contemporary History. This means he became one of the most important teachers and researchers in modern history at the university.
Awards and Recognition
Enrique Moradiellos is a very respected historian. In 2017, he won the National Prize for History. He received this award for his book titled Historia Minima de la Guerra Civila Española. This book is about the Spanish Civil War, a very important event in Spain's history.
In November 2020, Moradiellos was chosen to be a member of the Royal Academy of History. This is a very old and important group of historians in Spain. He took the place of another historian who had passed away.
