His Time in Politics
In 1713, Ephraim Dawson was chosen to be a Member of Parliament. A Member of Parliament, or MP, is a person elected to represent people in the government. He represented the area of Portarlington. This was in the Irish House of Commons, which was like a part of the government in Ireland back then. It was where laws were discussed and made.
He served as the MP for Portarlington until 1715. After that, he was elected to represent another area called Queen's County. He continued to serve as an MP for Queen's County until he died in 1746.
Family and Legacy
Ephraim Dawson married a woman named Anne Preston. She was the daughter and only heir of Samuel Preston. This means she inherited everything from her father.
