Estuaire is a very important part of Gabon, a country in Central Africa. It is the most populated area, or province, in Gabon. Think of a province like a large state or region within a country.
The main city and capital of Estuaire is Libreville. Libreville is also the capital city of all of Gabon. This means it's a very busy and important place for the whole country.

What is Estuaire Province?
Estuaire Province is located on the western coast of Gabon. It gets its name from the large estuary (a wide river mouth where the tide meets the river current) that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. This area is known for its beautiful coastline and important waterways.
The province covers a total area of about 20,740 square kilometers. That's a pretty big space! In 2013, almost 900,000 people lived there, making it the most crowded province in Gabon.
Departments: Smaller Areas
Just like a province is a big area, it is often divided into smaller sections. These smaller sections are called departments. Estuaire Province has five main departments. Each department has its own main town or city.
Here are the departments in Estuaire Province:
- Komo Department (Its main town is Kango)
- Komo-Mondah Department (Its main town is Ntoum)
- Komo-Océan Department (Its main town is Ndzomoe)
- Noya Department (Its main town is Cocobeach)
- Libreville (This is both a department and the capital city of the province and the country!)
These departments help to organize the province and manage local services for the people living there.
Libreville: The Capital City
Libreville is not just the capital of Estuaire Province, but also the national capital of Gabon. This means it's where the government of Gabon is located. It's a very busy city with many businesses, schools, and cultural sites.
Being a capital city, Libreville plays a big role in the economy and daily life of Gabon. Many people from all over the country come to Libreville for work or education.
