Etlah, Missouri facts for kids
Etlah is a small place located in Franklin County, Missouri. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or city council, as a city or town would. Instead, it's managed as part of the larger county.
The Story of Etlah
Etlah has an interesting story behind its name! It comes from the German word halte, which means "stop." Someone decided to spell it backwards to create the name "Etlah."
A long time ago, in 1864, a post office was opened in Etlah. This was a very important place for the people living there, as it allowed them to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1935.
