Eugenia Malinnikova, a brilliant mathematician.

Eugenia Malinnikova was born on April 23, 1974. She is a very talented mathematician. In 2017, she won the Clay Research Award. She shared this important award with another mathematician, Aleksandr Logunov. They won for their new ways of solving complex math problems.

Her Journey in Math

Eugenia Malinnikova showed her math skills early. When she was in high school, she competed in the International Mathematical Olympiad. This is a big math competition for students from all over the world. She competed three times and won a Gold medal each time! She even got a perfect score twice. Because of her amazing success, she is now in the International Mathematical Olympiad Hall of Fame.

She continued her studies and earned her PhD in 1999. She got her degree from St. Petersburg State University. Her teacher was Viktor Petrovich Havin. Today, she is a professor of mathematics at Stanford University. Before that, she taught at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Awards and Honors

Eugenia Malinnikova has received many honors for her work. In 2018, she became a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. This is a special group of very smart people in Norway. She is also part of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters. And she is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences. In 2024, she was chosen as a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society. This means she is recognized as a leading expert in her field.
