Eugénie de Guérin (born January 29, 1805 – died May 31, 1848) was a French writer. She was the older sister of the famous poet Maurice de Guérin. Eugénie was known for her deep thoughts and feelings, which she often wrote down.

Her writings, especially her Journals and Letters, showed she had a special talent for writing, much like her brother. However, her writing style was different from his. Eugénie was very religious and was sad that her brother had moved away from his early Catholic faith.

A Sister's Love and Legacy

Eugénie was five years older than Maurice. She loved him very much and also worried about him like a mother would. After Maurice passed away, Eugénie started gathering his scattered writings. She wanted to publish them so more people could read his work. Sadly, she died before she could finish this important task. Her own Journals were published in 1861, and her Letters came out in 1864. Both were later translated into English.
