She wrote the first guide in Spain about how the media should talk about violence against women. This guide came out in 1999. Eulàlia Lledó has won several awards for her important work. One of these is the Creu de Sant Jordi, which she received in 2008. Today, she writes for HuffPost.

About Her Life

Eulàlia Lledó used to be a high school teacher in Barcelona for many years. She also works with different universities and groups that study gender. One of these groups is the Genet Network of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

She is an expert at finding unfair language. This includes words or phrases that show a bias against women or focus only on men. She looks for these biases in books and everyday language.

Eulàlia Lledó has created many guides and handbooks on this topic. For example, in 1999, she wrote How to Treat Mistreatment Properly: Style Manual for the Media. This was the first guide in Spain to give advice on how news and media should talk about violence against women. She has also written many books about coeducation. Coeducation means teaching boys and girls together in a way that is fair to everyone. She also writes articles and reviews about books, especially those written by women.

Since 1994, she has been part of the Nombra group. This group advises the Women's Institute of the Government of Spain.

She helped to check and update two important dictionaries. These are the Diccionari General de la Llengua Catalana and the Diccionario de la lengua española.

In 2018, she took part in a meeting called "The Formula of Equality" at RTVE. There, she talked about how language can sometimes be unfair without people even realizing it.

She now writes for the Spanish version of HuffPost, sharing her ideas and research.
