Euphorbia serrata is a plant known by its common names, serrated spurge or sawtooth spurge. It is a type of spurge, which is a large group of plants. This plant originally comes from Europe. However, it can now be found in many other places around the world. When a plant grows in a new area where it wasn't before, it's called an introduced species. Sometimes, these plants can spread easily and are then called "weeds."
What is Sawtooth Spurge?
Sawtooth spurge is a plant that lives for many years. This means it is a perennial plant. It can grow to be about 20 centimeters (about 8 inches) tall. Some plants can even reach up to half a meter (about 20 inches) in height.
What Does Sawtooth Spurge Look Like?
The leaves of the sawtooth spurge are usually long and very narrow. These long, thin leaves grow on most parts of the plant. Closer to the ends of the stems, the leaves might be a bit more oval-shaped. A special feature of these leaves is that they have very fine teeth along their edges. This is why it's called "sawtooth" spurge!
At the very tips of the plant's branches, you can find tiny flowers. These flowers grow together in groups called inflorescences. After the flowers, the plant produces a small, round fruit. This fruit is like a little ball, about half a centimeter (about 0.2 inches) wide. Inside this fruit, there are tiny gray seeds.
