FC Bolzano 1996 facts for kids
Football Club Bolzano 1996, often called FC Bolzano, was a football club from Bolzano, Italy. The club played its last season in Promozione, which was the sixth level of football in Italy. In 2015, FC Bolzano joined with another club, Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Virtus Don Bosco. Together, they formed a new team called ASDC Virtus Bolzano. Even after this merger, FC Bolzano kept its youth teams running until 2017.
The club was first started in 1931 just for football. It became known as FC Bolzano 1996 later on. Over time, the club grew to include other sports too. FC Bolzano was the first team from its region, Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, to play in Serie B. This is the second highest football league in Italy. They played there before the league used a "round-robin" system, where every team plays each other twice. Until the 2022–23 season, no other team from their region had reached Serie B. This means FC Bolzano had the most important football history in its region for over seventy years.
