Faith Lutheran Church, once known as Salem Lutheran Church, is a special old church building. You can find it at 199 Granite Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. This church was built in 1894.
It was made for a group of people from Scandinavia. These people had moved to Quincy to work in the city's famous granite quarries.
About Faith Lutheran Church
The church building is made from granite, a very strong stone. It has a style called Gothic Revival. This means it looks like older churches from the Gothic period.
The amazing part is that members of the church helped build it themselves. They moved the heavy granite stones and shaped them. This shows how much they cared about their new church.
Changes Over Time
Since it was first built, the church has not changed much. The biggest addition was a small chapel. This chapel was added in 1914, making the church even more useful.
In 1989, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is an important historical place in the United States. It helps protect the church for future generations.
