Fanning's Castle, also known as Whitamore's Castle, is an old building in Limerick, Ireland. It is what remains of a tower house. A tower house is a type of strong, tall building that was common in Ireland and Britain many centuries ago. Fanning's Castle is also a National Monument, which means it is a very important historical site protected by the country. Its Irish name is Caisleán Uí Fhionáin.

What Does Fanning's Castle Look Like?
The walls of this tower house are made from limestone blocks. These blocks are rough and come in different sizes. The castle was originally very tall, with five floors. Today, you can still see four of these floors above the ground.

Others have mullions, which are vertical bars that divide a window into smaller sections. The tower house also had a spiral staircase inside, called a turret staircase.
