Fawn is a small, unincorporated community located in Dent County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
History of Fawn
The community of Fawn has a short but interesting history. A post office was opened here in 1894. This meant that people living in Fawn could send and receive mail right in their own community. However, the post office only stayed open for a few years, closing in 1908.
The name "Fawn" comes from the many deer that used to live in the area. Long ago, this region was a popular hunting ground for deer. Because of this, the early settlers decided to name their community after the young deer, or fawns, they often saw.
