Who is Fermín Pardo?
Fermín Pardo is a folklorist. This means he studies the traditional beliefs, customs, and stories of a community. He is especially interested in the music that people have passed down through generations. He was born in Hortunas, a small place near Requena.
His Important Work
In 1974, Fermín Pardo joined a special team. This group worked with Salvador Seguí Pérez. Their goal was to find and record folk songs. They traveled all over the Province of Valencia to collect these songs.
Two years later, in 1976, their project grew even bigger. With help from the Institució Alfons el Magnànim, they finished collecting songs from the entire Land of Valencia. This support helped them record many valuable pieces of music.
A Huge Collection of Music
Throughout his life, Fermín Pardo has collected a massive amount of music. He has recorded about 11,700 different musical pieces. These recordings are stored on more than 300 old-fashioned cassette tapes.
