Fionnghuala "Fig" O'Reilly was born on August 20, 1993. She is an Irish-American model and a data analyst. She also won beauty pageants.

In 2019, she became Miss Universe Ireland. This was a special moment because she was the first woman of color to represent Ireland in the international Miss Universe competition.

Fionnghuala, who is often called "Fig," has an Irish father and an African American mother. She signed her first modeling contract when she was 19 years old. This was with an agency in Milan, Italy.

She studied at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.. She earned a degree in Systems Engineering. This means she learned how to design and manage complex systems. She used this knowledge to become a NASA Datanaut. A Datanaut helps NASA use data better. She also helps lead NASA's Space Apps Challenge in Washington, D.C. This is a big event where people work together to solve space-related problems.

Beauty pageants and achievements

In 2017, O'Reilly competed in the Miss District of Columbia USA 2018 pageant. She placed as the third runner-up.

On August 1, 2019, O'Reilly competed as Miss Dublin in the Miss Universe Ireland 2019 pageant. She won the competition. This was a historic win because she was the first woman of color to win since 1961. She was crowned by the previous winner, Grainne Gallanagh.

As Miss Universe Ireland, she represented Ireland at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant. Her main message was about the need for more diversity. She also wanted more women to work in STEM fields. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. She did not place in the Miss Universe competition.

Helping others through Space to Reach

In 2021, O'Reilly received an award from the African American Irish Diaspora Network. This award recognized her leadership.
