Fionnghuala "Fig" O'Reilly is an Irish-American model and a data analyst. She was born on August 20, 1993. In 2019, she won the title of Miss Universe Ireland. She made history as the first woman of color to represent Ireland at the international Miss Universe competition.

In 2020, Fionnghuala joined the TV show Mission Unstoppable on CBS. She became a new reporter for the show, which was nominated for an Emmy Award. Fionnghuala also appeared in the HBO Max film Twenty Pearls.

Her Early Life and Studies

Fionnghuala, who is often called "Fig," has an Irish father and an African American mother. She signed her first modeling contract when she was 19 years old. This was with an agency in Milan, Italy.

Fig studied Systems Engineering at The George Washington University. This university is in Washington, D.C.. She used her degree to become a NASA Datanaut. This means she works with data for NASA. She also helps lead NASA's Space Apps Challenge in Washington, D.C.

Her Pageant Journey

In 2017, O'Reilly took part in the Miss District of Columbia USA 2018 contest. She won an award for her swimsuit and placed as the third runner-up.

On August 1, 2019, O'Reilly competed as Miss Dublin. This was in the Miss Universe Ireland 2019 pageant in Dublin, Ireland. She won the competition, which was a big moment. She was the first woman of color to win this pageant since it started in 1961. The previous winner, Grainne Gallanagh, crowned her.

As Miss Universe Ireland, she represented Ireland at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant. She used her platform to talk about the importance of diversity. She also spoke about getting more women involved in STEM. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. She did not place in the final competition.

Helping Others: Philanthropy

In 2021, Fionnghuala O'Reilly received a special award. It was the AAIDN Heritage and Diaspora Spirit Award. This award came from the African American Irish Diaspora Network. Mary McAleese hosted the event where she received it.

In 2022, O'Reilly started an organization called Space to Reach. This group helps Black and Brown women advance in STEM fields.
