The First Baptist Church was a special building in Reidsville, North Carolina. It was a historic church for a group called the Southern Baptists. This church was built in 1918.
It was known for its unique look, which was called the Late Gothic Revival style. The church was made of brick. It had a front with three sections. It also had two towers that were different heights. These towers had a cool, castle-like top called "crenellated." Inside, there was a beautiful stained glass window with three parts.
For many years, until the mid-1970s, the First Baptist Church was an important place for the African-American Baptist community in Reidsville. It served as a center for worship and community life.
In 1986, the church was recognized as a very important historical site. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of buildings, sites, and objects that are important in American history. Sadly, the First Baptist Church building has since been taken down. Even though it's gone, its history and importance are still remembered.
