A Long History
The land where the church stands has been used since 1687. This is where the church's graveyard is located. There are more than two thousand graves there. Many of these graves belong to people from the American Revolutionary War. This was a time when America fought for its independence. One famous person buried there is Reverend James Caldwell. He was a brave leader during the war.
In 2013, a very old Bible was returned to the church. This Bible was from 1699. It belonged to John Ogden (colonist), who was one of the church's founders.
In 2019, the First Presbyterian Church joined together with another church. This was the Siloam Hope Presbyterian Church. After they joined, they became the Siloam Hope First Presbyterian Church. The church still meets at its original location on Broad Street.
