Who Fought?
The main leaders in this battle were Babur, who was a prince from Central Asia, and Ibrahim Lodi, who was the Sultan of Delhi. Babur had been invited to India by Daulat Khan Lodi, a relative of Ibrahim, to challenge his rule.
Babur's Smart Strategy
Babur's army was smaller than Ibrahim Lodi's, but he had a clever plan. He used a special battle tactic called the Rumi (or Ottoman) device. This involved tying many carts together to form a strong defensive wall.
Between these carts, Babur's soldiers built small walls of earth, called breastworks. These breastworks were perfect places to rest their guns. This setup made it very hard for Ibrahim Lodi's army to attack them directly. This clever system was part of a larger battle plan known as the Tughlama system.
Powerful Guns
One of Babur's biggest advantages was his artillery, which means his cannons and guns. These were led by two skilled commanders named Ustad Ali and Mustafa. Their powerful field guns played a huge role in defeating Ibrahim Lodi's army.
The Outcome
Babur's smart tactics and strong artillery helped him win the battle in 1526. This victory was a turning point. It marked the end of the Delhi Sultanate under the Lodi dynasty and the beginning of the Mughal Empire in India.
