History of Florence
Early Days and Name Changes
The community of Florence was first started in 1817. Back then, it had a different name: New York.
A post office was opened in New York in 1827. This was important for sending and receiving mail. Later, in 1847, the name of the post office and the community changed to Florence. The post office is still open today!
