Florin Ristei, born Traian Florin Ristei on August 29, 1987, is a famous singer and TV host from Romania. He was born in Galați but now lives in Bucharest. He became well-known for his first song, "Dana," which he sang with his old band, Amici. He also won the third season of X Factor Romania in 2013.
In 2012, Universal Pictures chose Florin Ristei to sing the main songs for the animated movie Disney Magical Music. He sang alongside Paula Seling and Dalma Kovacs for the Romanian version of the film.

Early Life and First Bands (1987–2012)
Florin Ristei went to General School No. 10 in Galați. His teachers remember him as a very good student. He was ambitious and worked hard even as a child.
In 1999, he was discovered by Lucian Pintilie at a karaoke contest. This contest was held in Constanţa by Prima TV. Pintilie wanted to make a film with Florin, but the project did not happen.
Florin later became the lead singer of a band called Amici. At that time, Amici was the youngest pop-rock band in Romania. In 2000, they released a very popular song called "Dana." This song quickly became a hit on national music charts. Together, the band released two EPs (mini-albums), one full album, and appeared on a music collection.
In 2005, Florin joined another band named Marfar. Their most popular song was "Baby Marinaru'" (which means "Baby Sailor").
FreeStay, X Factor, and Big Success (2012–Present)
In 2012, Florin Ristei started a new music project called FreeStay. This marked his return to the national music scene. FreeStay's first song, "Ea a fost Dana" (meaning "She was Dana"), was played on Romanian radio and TV stations.
FreeStay also took part in Romania's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013. Their song was "Criminal Mind." They finished in 9th place in the final competition.
In 2013, Florin Ristei tried out for the third season of the X Factor Romania talent show. His performances were greatly liked by both the judges and the audience. He ended up winning the entire competition.
After winning X Factor, he released several new songs. These included "Altfel de magie" (meaning "Another Kind of Magic"), "Cerșetori de iubire" (meaning "Beggars of Love"), and "Trebuia să fii tu" (meaning "It had to be You").
In 2016, Florin Ristei released a hit song called "Las-o..." (meaning "Let her...") with the rapper Vescan. This song reached number one on the Romanian music charts. After this, he worked with many other popular Romanian artists. He collaborated with What's Up on the song "Facem ce vrem" (meaning "We do what we want."). He also worked with Andra for "Între noi nu mai e nimic" (meaning "There is nothing between us anymore"). Smiley wrote the music and lyrics for their song "Îmi place prietena ei" (meaning "I like her friend").
In 2017, Florin Ristei won an award for the Best Romanian Male Voice. This award was given at the Radio Romania Awards gala.
In 2020, Florin Ristei became a judge on the ninth season of X Factor Romania. This was a special moment because he was the first person to win X Factor Romania and then later become a judge on the show.
