Floy Campbell was an American artist who lived from 1873 to 1945. She was known for her beautiful paintings of nature (landscapes), everyday objects (still life), and people (portraits). Her art style was inspired by two important art movements: French Impressionism and European Expressionism.

Floy Campbell's Artistic Journey

Floy Campbell was born in Weston, Missouri, in 1873. She went to high school in Kansas City, Missouri. After that, she studied art at several famous schools. She attended Columbia University and the Kansas City Art Association and School of Design. She also studied at the Art Students League of New York. To learn even more, she traveled to Paris, France, to study at the Académie Colarossi. This was a very important art school for many artists.

In 1896, Campbell moved back to Kansas City. There, she opened her own art studio. She also started teaching art at Manual Training High School. Floy Campbell was an active member of many art groups. These included the Kansas City Paint Club and the Kansas City Society of Artists. She was also part of the Society of Women Artists in Paris and the Boulder Artists Guild.

Floy Campbell passed away in 1945 in Boulder, Colorado. She is buried at the Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder. Her paintings continue to be admired today.
