Fomento, also known as Playa Fomento, is a fun resort village located on the coast of the Río de la Plata river. You can find it in the Colonia Department of Uruguay. It's a popular spot, especially during the summer!
Where is Fomento?
Fomento is found along Route 51. It's about 11 kilometers (around 7 miles) south of Colonia Valdense. To its west, you'll find Playa Parant, and a bit further are Playa Britópolis and Blanca Arena. On the other side, to its east, is Santa Regina. All these places share the same long, sandy beach, perfect for relaxing and playing.
People in Fomento
Even though Fomento has a small number of people living there all year round, it gets much busier in the summer. In 2011, about 84 people lived there permanently. However, there are many houses that families use for their summer vacations. This means the village comes alive with visitors when the weather is warm!
Cool Places to Visit
- Parque 17 de Febrero (17 February Park): This park belongs to the Waldensian Evangelical Church. It's a nice place to visit and enjoy the outdoors.
