Imagine a big party where lots of food trucks come together in one spot! That's a food truck rally. People also call them food truck festivals or gatherings. It's a fun event where you can try all sorts of yummy food from different trucks.
What is a Food Truck Rally?
These events usually feature "modern" food trucks. These aren't just any old trucks; they focus on making really good, interesting food with lots of choices. This idea became super popular in the United States around 2008.
The first official food truck gatherings started in 2010. One of the earliest big events was the LA Food Fest, held in February 2010.
Record-Breaking Food Truck Events
Food truck rallies have grown huge! Cities across the United States have hosted massive gatherings.
- Tampa, Florida, is a very popular place for food trucks.
- Their first food truck event was in September 2011.
- In September 2013, Tampa set a record with 99 food trucks at one rally.
- They broke their own record in March 2014, when 121 food trucks gathered! This was a new world record.
- Before that, in April 2013, a "food truck parade" in Miami had 62 trucks, which was the biggest at the time.
Food Truck Rallies Across the US
Many other cities have also hosted large food truck events:
- In 2018, the Chicago Food Truck Festival planned to have over 50 food trucks.
- More than 50 food trucks also rallied in Meridian Township in 2018.
- In Muskeon, Michigan, 23 food trucks came together for a rally in 2018.
- Over 30 food trucks rallied in Daytona in June 2018.
