Foster (sometimes called Fosters) is a small community located in Bracken County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is an "unincorporated community," which means it does not have its own local government. In 2010, about 44 people lived there.
History of Foster
The community of Foster was named after an early settler called Israel Foster. In the past, it was also known as "Fosters Landing" or simply "Fosters."
Post Office and Name Changes
A post office first opened in Foster in 1847. At that time, it was called "Foster's Landing." A few years later, in 1850, the name of the post office was changed to just "Foster."
From City to Community
Foster used to be an official city with its own local government. However, by the year 2008, it changed and became an unincorporated community. This means it is now part of the larger county government instead of having its own separate city government.
