Franc Veliu is a former professional footballer from Albania. He was born on November 11, 1988. Franc mostly played as a defender. This means his main job was to stop the other team from scoring goals. He was usually a left back, but he could also play as a left midfielder or even a central defender.

Franc spent a big part of his career playing for his hometown club, Flamurtari Vlorë. He played there from 2006 to 2015. During his career, he won the Albanian Cup twice. He helped his team win this cup in 2009 and again in 2014.

Club Career Highlights

Playing for Flamurtari Vlorë

Franc Veliu started his professional career at Flamurtari Vlorë in 2006. This was his hometown club, and he quickly became an important player for them. He mostly played as a left back, helping to defend and also join in attacks.

In 2008, Franc did something very special for a defender: he scored three goals in one game! This is called a hat-trick. It happened in an Albanian Cup match where Flamurtari won 6–1. This was a rare achievement for someone who plays in defense.

The fans of Flamurtari Vlorë really liked Franc. In 2014, they voted him as the club's Player of the Year. This showed how much they appreciated his hard work and skill on the field.

Moving to Other Clubs

After playing 263 games for Flamurtari, Franc decided to try new teams. In 2015, he joined another club in the Albanian Superliga called Kukësi. He played there for one season.

In 2016, Franc moved to Partizani Tirana. He played a few matches for them, helping the team finish second in the league that season.

Returning to Flamurtari Vlorë

Later in 2016, Franc Veliu returned to his old club, Flamurtari Vlorë. He was given his old jersey number, 11. He quickly started playing again for the team.

In 2017, he scored an important goal in a game against Korabi Peshkopi. This goal helped Flamurtari avoid being moved down to a lower league. After his teammate Bruno Telushi left, Franc became the team captain again. He had been captain before, so it was a familiar role for him.

Franc faced a challenge when he got a serious injury in 2017. This meant he couldn't play for a big part of the 2017–18 season. But he worked hard to recover and returned to play in 2018.

Playing for Gjilani

In 2019, Franc Veliu moved to a new country to play football. He joined Gjilani, a team in the Football Superleague of Kosovo. He played for Gjilani until 2022, adding more games and goals to his career.

International Career

Franc Veliu also had the chance to play for his country, Albania. He was chosen to play for the Albanian national team in 2011. His first game was a friendly match against Argentina on June 20, 2011. He started the game, which was a big moment for him. He played a total of 7 games for the senior national team.
