We don't know much about where Frances Beem learned her art skills. But we do know she showed her artwork in big exhibitions! In 1912, she displayed three watercolor paintings at an art show in Chicago.

A few years later, in 1919, Frances Beem was featured in another important art show. This one was at the famous Art Institute of Chicago. She showed three miniature portraits, which are very small, detailed paintings. These portraits were:

  • Alice Drake Eames
  • Captain O.E. Eames
  • Melville C. Eames

Besides creating art, Frances Beem also helped others learn. She wrote a textbook with someone else about how to teach technical drawing to high school students. This kind of drawing helps you show things from different angles, like in architecture.

Frances Beem also taught art and drawing at Nicholas Senn High School in Chicago. She taught there for many years, from 1917 to 1946. After she stopped teaching, she moved to La Jolla, California. She lived there for several years before she passed away in San Diego, California, on November 10, 1971, when she was 90 years old. She was buried in Chicago.
